Many people were surprised when the series went from Angus and Silas fighting for their lives to the Pups being grown. Jacki kicked it off by living on her own in Texas. I know, I know. It was like whiplash. People were like, what? Didn’t Sarita just get kidnapped in elementary school? Yeah, she had in KnightForce Tres, even with their fast biological clocks, there was no way the series was going in order.
Honestly, I was stumped. I couldn’t write Jasmine and Silas dealing with middle and high school issues. I tried writing the kids growing up with puberty kicking their butts, epic fail. I did the prom and other high school stuff, but when you’re a child of La Patron in a secure environment, it was hard to come up with conflict. Plus, Silas couldn’t or wouldn’t leave his pups for someone else to protect, his wolf would never agree to that. In lieu of writing boring family stuff, I wrote the KnightForce series. Once I finished those, I jumped ahead so that the pups could leave the nest and encounter conflict in the world. Love, pain, bubble bursting things to prepare them for life. As long as they were safe in the compound, I didn’t have much of a story.
